The robust Saudi Arabian market for auto parts and accessories remains the largest and most influential in the GCC, and buyers from the Kingdom are among the most sought after at Automechanika Dubai, the region's premier aftermarket trade exhibition.
Messe Frankfurt Middle East, organiser of Automechanika Dubai set out on a Saudi roadshow aimed at examining the ways to ease access to this lucrative market. The three-day roadshow spotlights the processes of doing business in the Kingdom, passing through Jeddah and Riyadh before concluding today (25 March) in Dammam.
According to analysts Frost & Sullivan, car sales in Saudi Arabia – the largest in the region – are firmly on the upswing, growing 6.3 per cent annually to reach nearly a million in 2018. Japanese and Korean brands lead the way in new sales followed by the US and European manufacturers. Over 7.1 million vehicles were on the Kingdom's roads in 2013 with 60 per cent of them concentrated in the urban regions of Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam.
The Automechanika Roadshow attracted more than 300 manufacturers, distributors, suppliers, traders, key buyers, government representatives and journalists, who gathered to learn about the latest industry updates, data, statistics, trends and business processes.
The Roadshow is also in response to ongoing strong interest from
Saudi trade buyers at Automechanika Dubai over the years in search auto components and supplies.
“The Automechanika Roadshow in Saudi Arabia is designed to better understand the fundamentals of doing business in the Gulf region’s most significant automotive aftermarket,” said Ahmed Pauwels, CEO of Messe Frankfurt Middle East.
“Trade buyers from the Kingdom form one of our most influential customer segments and we are looking at engaging closer with them in order to understand their needs better.”
