Description

A caliper is a key component of automotive and commercial vehicle brake systems. It operates by hydraulic brake fluid, forcing brake pads to clamp against both sides of the disc, creating friction to decelerate or stop the vehicle. Calipers come in two main types: fixed and floating (sliding). Fixed calipers have pistons on both sides and simultaneously clamp the pads, while floating calipers use a single set of pistons that push one pad, with reaction force pressing the other pad. Modern calipers are modular and can be customized to different vehicle grades. Newer models are designed to reduce drag and optimize NVH (Noise, Vibration, and Harshness) through advanced engineering features.
