Dubai, UAE: After the success of last year’s launch, the Automechanika Dubai Awards are returning with the objective of honouring outstanding personalities and high-achieving companies in the regional automotive aftermarket and service sectors.

The awards, organised by Messe Frankfurt Middle East and taking place on November 23 at the Dubai World Trade Centre, will recognise people, businesses, and products across the MENA region for their performance, customer service, sustainability, safety initiatives, and accomplishments. The event will bring together the most dynamic leaders in the international automotive industry to witness and celebrate the industry's overall progress. The categories for the awards have been revamped for 2022, and represent all sectors of the automotive aftermarket industry, including Commercial Vehicle Workshop of the Year, Bodyshop of the Year, Automotive Quick Services, and Provider of the Year, among others.

“Due to the incredible response, we had for our inaugural edition last year, we have decided to increase the number of award categories for 2022, which now include Automotive Customization / Specialist of the Year and Off-Road Services Provider of the Year.” said Mahmut Gazi Bilikozen, Show Director of Automechanika Dubai. “We created this awards platform to celebrate excellence and innovation in the automotive aftermarket industry and are excited by the range of submissions we have received so far. They are a clear indication of the rapid transformation the regional industry is going through.”

“I am excited to be a part of the judging process this year and see first-hand all the amazing work our industry peers are doing across the region. From the submissions I have seen so far, the change and opportunity our industry is witnessing will be perfectly captured when the winners are announced next month,” said Graham Threlfall, Global Key Account Manager of Vehicle Refinishes at AkzoNobel and a jury member for the awards.

“We are excited to participate in Automechanika Dubai once again,” said Mohammed Aqel, General Manager at Central Trading, a part of the Al Rostamani Group of companies. “This year, we are reinforcing our commitment to sustainable practices and will be showcasing some of the latest eco-friendly products from our international suppliers such as Michelin, Castrol and ACDelco.”

As well as AkzoNobel’s Threlfall, the 2022 judging panel includes public and private sector experts Martin Roberts, Transport Manager at Momentum Logistics; Alan Whaley from AMENA Professional; Abdulla Almheiri and Nasir Alseeri of Dubai Government Workshop; Dr Nima Mehrdadi of Hella Middle East; Vishal Pandey of Glasgow Research & Consulting; and Michel Malik of BodyShop News International.

"Sustainability is a key part of our ongoing strategy here at the Dubai Government Workshop, and to be honoured at last year's Automechanika's Awards for sustainability, amongst three others, was such a boost for our team and confirmation that the steps we are taking to help Dubai realise its sustainable ambitions are working," said Director Mr. Aqil Al Janahi of Dubai Government Workshop. "Everyone on the team is looking forward to the 2022 edition and excited at the prospect of winning multiple categories for a second year running," he added.

Automechanika Dubai is all set for an expanded show from November 22-24, 2022, at the Dubai World Trade Centre. For close to two decades, the show has been a one-stop trade platform in the MEA region for businesses in the automotive aftermarket and service industry seeking to expand their network, explore opportunities, and get updated with the latest trends and solutions while evaluating market trends and sharing expertise.
