Dubai, UAE: Dubai’s trade for auto parts and accessories was valued at AED40.46 billion in 2015, comprising 3.3 per cent of the Emirate’s AED1.28 trillion total general trade for the year, according to figures released by Dubai Customs today.
Imports for the Emirate’s booming automotive aftermarket trade were valued at AED23.92 billion last year, while the value of exports and re-exports of tyres, batteries, engine components and systems from Dubai was AED16.54 billion.
According to Dubai Customs, Japan was Dubai’s top trading partner country in 2015, accounting for 5.46 billion worth of auto parts and accessories imports, exports, and re-exports for the year, a 13.49 per cent share of the total value.
South Korea (AED3.42 billion), USA (AED2.95 billion), Germany (AED2.89 billion) and China (AED2.86 billion) followed, with the five countries combined comprising 43.41 per cent (AED17.57 billion) of Dubai’s entire auto parts trade value in 2015.
The Dubai auto-parts statistics updates were announced to an audience of auto parts manufacturers, suppliers, fleet operators, and regulators at the Automechanika Academy’s Spare Parts and Maintenance Conference, which took place on the side-lines of Automechanika Dubai 2016. The figures were provided by Nasim Saeed Al Mehairi, Senior Manager for Statistics and Studies Section at Dubai Customs.

Automechanika Dubai 2016, which runs until tomorrow (10 May) at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre, is the Middle East and Africa’s largest trade exhibition for the automotive aftermarket and services industry.
Now in its 14th edition, Automechanika Dubai features 2,107 exhibitors from 58 countries, and covers the six core product groups of Parts & Components; Electronics & Systems; Repair & Maintenance; Tyres & Batteries; Accessories & Tuning; and Service Station & Car Wash. The three-day event is expected to draw in more than 30,000 trade buyers from 135 countries.
